The show's current star, Neil Dudgeon, returns for his 12th season as DCI John Barnaby, officially bringing him one season away from tying original star John Nettles, who led the show for 13 seasons before passing off the baton. Acorn TV has confirmed that 2023 will be no exception, as the show's 24th season is set to debut the first week of December and run through the holidays. Since the 2020s, Midsomer Murders arrival has been an end-of-the-year event, especially since the episode count dropped from six installments a year after 2019 to four. By the mid-2010s, it was on Netflix and BritBox, before finally becoming an Acorn TV exclusive, where it resides today. (A shame, really, the pathologist-based series, which has been on the air since 1996, is over on BritBox.) Midsomer Murders, on the other hand, which arrived all of a year later, had the literary cred of being adapted by Anthony Horowitz and Douglas Watkinson from the Chief Inspector Barnaby series by Caroline Graham, and wound up on many a local PBS station in the early aughts. However, Silent Witness, for whatever reason, never really caught on in the States, partly because it wasn't based on a preexisting novel and, therefore, not picked up by PBS at the time. ![]() Among the British mystery TV set, only Silent Witness currently beats out Midsomer Murders for the longest-running series still producing episodes today.

To my surprise, they put it into my library for free. Recently I asked if they would release a pack I hadn’t bought when I had the chance. And the puzzles are good - pictures you actually like. At the beginning of the pandemic, they offered a free pack every week. This app shines because of the developers, and their customer service. The developers release free packs every month. Puzzle packs are cheap, but if you don’t want to spend money, no problem. It has everything I want: great pictures, a choice of sizes, and the ability to make your own puzzles. I’ve used this puzzle app for years, and I love it. The best puzzle app, and the best developers Hi there, thanks for the ⭐⭐⭐⭐ review! I'm sorry to hear that you've been having problems with the app - would you get in touch with out support team who'll be happy to investigate further with you I look forward to hearing from you! it's very relaxing, and it's nice to be able to work on a puzzle and know my cats won't knock all the pieces around. it would also help if the picture loaded at a size appropriate to the screen rather than at 100% zoom. sometimes while i'm doing this, the picture will rotate slightly, and i can almost never get it back in line. the picture opens completely zoomed in, and i have to very carefully pinch to zoom out. the other thing which frustrates me is when i try to create my own puzzles. when this happens, it will sometimes take a few taps to finally be able to move the piece. ![]() i'll tap and drag only to find i just moved my finger. one, sometimes it doesn't seem to recognise when i've put my finger on a piece to drag it. I've been using this app for years, and it's even better on my new 10.2" iPad, but i find a few things frustrating. Thanks again for taking the time to leave a review, and happy puzzling!! Yes, square puzzles are still on our roadmap. But if you contact support they can best advise you. That way you get exactly what you want, and not what we think you'd like!įor your question about deleting / restoring, please contact our support team on email to We don't recommend deleting the app, as it means you'll lose your created puzzles. We are thinking of adding something like this, which let's you chose your own puzzle images from the packs. Thanks for your suggestion for "make your own bundle". That way the old ones are still visible, and your new one will appear at the top and is easier to find. It's always better to create a NEW review, rather than edit an old one. Thanks for leaving another wonderful review. How about a “Make Your Own Bundle?” I love the I really like the colorful and holiday bundles puzzles. I still think I would spend more money on puzzles (I really like puzzles) if I had a little more say in what goes into the bundle. I haven’t seen or heard anything for a long time. (My husband jokes that why do I care what the puzzles look like if all I’m doing is arranging the memorized places for the pieces. For example, make all of the pieces resemble something or just in a different pattern. Have an option available for changes in the puzzle piece shape. Have some puzzles available in portrait or square mode just for variety. I’m pretty sure that I would spend more on those than looking for pictures of my own to make puzzles. Throw 100 or so puzzles out there and let us choose our own. I usually enjoy the bundles you have but I’d like to see a place where I could buy puzzles for what…about 10¢ apiece out of a selection that you’ve make available. Being able to select puzzles for a bundle of my own. Thank you for your continued efforts to make great puzzles! I enjoy many aspects of this app, especially where I can make my own puzzles. Popular on the Indonesian islands of Bali and Lombok, in particular, this whole chicken dish is stuffed with an intensely aromatic spice paste ( betutu) that usually includes a mashup of fresh hot chile peppers, galangal (a root related to ginger), candlenuts, shallots, garlic, turmeric and shrimp paste, among other ingredients. But you might recognize them most from the ubiquitous jerk chicken and pork smoking roadside everywhere from Montego Bay to Boston Bay, where meat prepared with the peppery marinade is cooked the traditional way, atop coals from pimento tree wood (the tree’s allspice berries are also used in the jerk marinade). ![]() Scotch bonnets star in several of the island’s iconic dishes, including escovitch fish, pepper pot soup and curry goat. “For Jamaicans, the degree of spiciness starts at medium for children and goes up to purple hot,” he says, explaining that the peppers come in green, orange, red and purple hues, growing increasingly spicy in that order. Jamaica’s favorite pepper is the Scotch bonnet, beloved not just for its spiciness but for its aroma, colors and flavor, too, says Mark Harvey, content creator and podcaster at Two On An Island, who was born in Spanish Town, Jamaica. Scotch bonnet peppers give jerk chicken its heat. The dish is also popular in Namibia and South Africa, where it’s often found on the menu in Portuguese restaurants. If you’ve ever been interrupted when you were in a flow state, you know how difficult regaining focus can be. Don't worry about the outcome - just take it one pomodoro at a time. It keeps you hyper-focused on the next thing you need to do rather than get overwhelmed by the enormity of what you're taking on. ![]() ![]() That procrastination-busting strategy is exactly what the pomodoro technique asks you to do: break down your big tasks, projects, or goals into something you only have to do for the next 25 minutes. Doing something small for a short period of time is a whole lot easier to face than trying to take on a big project all at once. Still too hard? Try just sitting down to edit a paragraph. For example, instead of sitting down to write a novel, sit down to write for 5 minutes. Luckily, studies have also shown an effective way to break out of the avoidance cycle: shrink whatever it is you're putting off down to a tiny, unintimidating first step. So we turn to Twitter or Netflix instead to boost our mood, if only temporarily. It's uncomfortable to stare down a big task or project - one you may not be sure how to even do or one that involves a lot of uncertainty. Rather, we put things off to avoid negative feelings. Research has shown that procrastination has little to do with laziness or lack of self-control. Here's what makes the method uniquely suited to boosting productivity: Making it easy to just get started The arbitrary silliness of using a tomato as a stand-in for units of time belies the Pomodoro Technique's serious effectiveness in helping people get things done. The Pomodoro technique is all about getting your mind in the zone to finish your tasks. If the system seems simple, that’s because it is. Keep an "Overlearning" project in Todoist with a list of tasks you can quickly choose from the next time you find yourself with pomodoro time to spare. For example, you could spend the extra time reading up on professional journals or researching networking opportunities. Use the rest of your time for overlearning, or improving skills or scope of knowledge. The rule applies even if you finish your task before the timer goes off. Cirillo recommends that you track interruptions (internal or external) as they occur and reflect on how to avoid them in your next session. In the event of an unavoidable disruption, take your five-minute break and start again. A digital task manager like Todoist is a great place for these, but pen and paper will do, too. Any ideas, tasks, or requests that come up should be noted to return to later. The pomodoro is an indivisible unit of time and can not be broken, especially not to check incoming emails, team chats, or text messages. For example, "write rent check," "set vet appointment," and "read Pomodoro article" could go together in one session. Any tasks that will take less than one Pomodoro should be combined with other simple tasks. Sticking to this rule will help ensure you make clear progress on your projects. If a task requires more than four pomodoros, it needs to be divided into smaller, actionable steps. The 25-minute work sprints are the core of the method, but a Pomodoro practice also includes three rules for getting the most out of each interval:īreak down complex projects. When your session ends, mark off one pomodoro and record what you completed.Īfter four pomodoros, take a longer, more restorative 15-30 minute break. ![]() Set your timer for 25 minutes, and focus on a single task until the timer rings. Though Cirillo went on to write a 130-page book about the method, its biggest strength is its simplicity: Encouraged by the challenge, he found a tomato (pomodoro in Italian) shaped kitchen timer, and the Pomodoro technique was born. Feeling overwhelmed, he asked himself to commit to just 10 minutes of focused study time. Cirillo was struggling to focus on his studies and complete assignments. The Pomodoro Technique was developed in the late 1980s by then-university student Francesco Cirillo. Take the quiz Explore on your own What is the Pomodoro Technique?
